Quantum Computing
Quantum computing refers to a new form of computing that can be beneficial to process big data in general and within machine learning algorithms in particular. The key element of quantum computers are based on circuits that are called quantum bits or qubits for short. Please refer to our article on a qubit for more pieces of information.
In order to use quantum computing for machine learning and other solutions, qubits perform calculations by exploiting ‘superposition’ and ‘entanglement’. In other words, when two quantum systems like an electron or nucleus interact they become connected and retain a correlation in their spin or energy states. It is important to understand that this process of entanglement makes it possible for qubits to work together. This joint work together enables a representation of multiple combinations of values simultanously instead of one combination at a time like in conventional computing today.
