SAAS Examples
SAAS examples can be found in many application domains whereby SAAS stands for Software-As-A-Service. Examples of SAAS typically provide specialized application interfaces that enable users to focus on one particular domain of business or private concern and do not mention any underlying IAAS IT resources nor PAAS IT components.
One of the best known examples are in the application field of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. In fact, CRM systems are the largest SAAS market with a revenue of about 3.8 billion US Dollar (2011). CRM systems manage the interaction with current and potential future customers of an organization. They analyze the big data about customers history with the organization in order to improve business relationships with customers (e.g. retention, sales growth). CRM systems pull as much data about customers together as possible from different sources like E-Mails, purchase orders, transactions, communication, and even Online Social Networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, or GooglePlus. There are quite many SAAS-based software providers such as Zoho CRM, Salesforce CRM, Freshsales CRM, or Appboy. All of them share the basic functionality of a CRM system as an SAAS application accessible in a Web browser.
Another well known example is in the application field of Enterprise Resource Planing (ERP) systems. ERP systems manage whole business processes of an organization online with colleagues. This includes product line planning and purchases, manufacturing or service delivery, marketing and sales, inventory management, shipping, payment, and finance. There are many SAAS-based software providers such as Dolibarr ERP, Abas ERP, or NetSuite OneWorld. All of them include the basic functionality of an ERP system as an SAAS application acceesible via a Web browser.
